VICTORIA, BC –/COMMUNITYWIRE/– Victoria-based Real Estate Finance professional and REAfe Advisor, Adam Gant, has announced a new scholarship opportunity in support of Autistic Canadians.

The scholarship opportunity will provide $5,000 to one winner as part of Adam’s desire to bring awareness to the gifts and opportunities that comes with being Autistic. The scholarship opportunity is open to both current and prospective post-secondary students.

The Autistic label often comes with only negative connotations. Adam is working to reduce this negative stigma and instead, honour the many gifted traits that are possessed by those on the Autistic Spectrum. While there are challenges associated with being Autistic, there are also often unique opportunities.

“Far too often, we see people with autism fall to the self-confirming biases our society carries about those living with Autism,” says Adam Gant. “I believe that Autism offers a unique experience, that when nurtured and supported, can bring forth amazing abilities.”

Where many funds and organizations use sympathy to generate awareness for Autism, Adam strives to use encouragement and positivity. Having a family member on the autism spectrum, Gant has seen the unique gifts firsthand and experienced the struggle these individuals go through when faced with negative assumptions. The scholarship opportunity comes as an attempt to improve the narrative and bring awareness to the many desirable and positive qualities on the spectrum.
