WINDSOR, ON – –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– Marit Stiles, Leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party, will join striking workers from Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) on the picket line outside of CHS’ Windsor office on Wednesday July 2 at noon.

This visit comes as strikes at both province-wide government funded agencies drag on with neither employer bargaining in good faith. While the employers try to impose a deal, service users have been forgotten with Deaf Ontarians forced to go without critical interpretation services and injured workers unable to access back-to-work retraining programs.

“Both the government and the employers have a responsibility to the Ontarians that rely on their services. These months-long strikes are actively hurting workers and our communities,” said Stiles. “These workers support some of the most vulnerable Ontarians. Deaf Ontarians absolutely need interpreters just like injured Ontarians need rehabilitation and retraining. Both depend on CHS and WSIB workers being treated fairly.”
