Event Information

Begins: 26 June 2025
Location: Guelph, ON

GUELPH, ON –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– Harry Goslin, President of the Ontario Compensation Employees Union (OCEU/CUPE 1750), will join striking Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) workers on the picket line outside ServiceOntario at 1 Stone Road West in Guelph on Thursday, June 26 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Goslin’s visit comes as the province-wide strike by more than 3,600 frontline staff stretches past two months — the first in WSIB’s 110-year history. These workers support safe return-to-work plans, process injury claims, and deliver critical services to injured Ontarians.

WHERE:
ServiceOntario – 1 Stone Road West, Guelph

TIME:
12:00 p.m. ET

“This deal should have been done by now,” said Harry Goslin, President of OCEU/CUPE 1750. “The union’s bargaining team is a fully empowered decision-making body. WSIB’s team is not. What’s missing is the authority from the CEO and senior leadership to finalize a fair deal — and until they come to the table with a mandate, this strike will continue to harm injured workers and delay critical services.”

Despite continued good-faith efforts and ongoing mediated discussions, WSIB leadership has refused to table a final offer. The union’s team remains ready to reach a settlement — 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“The WSIB must pull out all the stops and get this done by Canada Day,” said Goslin. “We’re calling on the CEO and other decision-makers to show leadership, complete the deal, and put Ontario’s injured workers first.”

Service delays, growing backlogs, and system breakdowns — including technical disruptions to claim processing — have underscored the toll this strike is taking across Ontario.

“It’s time for action,” said Goslin. “The public deserves a compensation system that works—and that starts with a fair deal for the people who keep it running.”
