Plug’n Drive is Bringing Electric Test Drives to Regina Saskatchewan and Surrounding Communities

From July 3 to July 20, residents can test drive electric vehicles in Regina and at nearby Roadshows as part of a cross-country EV education tour
REGINA, SK –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– Plug’n Drive will be coming to various spots in and near Regina, SK, in July with its Mobile EV Education Trailer (MEET), bringing a fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles for pressure-free test drives.
From Thursday to Sunday each week between July 3 and July 20, MEET Regina will be hosted by the Saskatchewan Science Centre, 2903 Powerhouse Drive, Regina, SK S4N 0A1. Visitors will be able to test drive at least six different plug-in electric vehicles (EVs).
Presented by RBC as the Champion sponsor, this will be the fifth MEET in the Western portion of Plug’n Drive’s EVs are for EVeryone Cross-Canada Tour, a groundbreaking initiative bringing electric vehicle education and test drives to communities across the country.
“It’s more important than ever to help Canadians understand the benefits of going electric—from saving money to reducing emissions. Supporting this EV tour is one way to make information more accessible and emphasizes RBC’s commitment to supporting the transition to a net-zero economy,” said Kim Ulmer, RBC Regional President.
“Visitors to the Saskatchewan Science Centre are curious and eager to learn about new and future-forward innovations,” said Sandy Baumgartner, CEO of the Saskatchewan Science Centre. “This is a great opportunity for our community to come out and be able to sample a number of advanced electric vehicles as part of Plug’n Drive’s national EV education efforts.”
Answering questions about range, sustainability, winter driving, or other common EV questions while organizing test drives will be EV Ambassadors from Canadian non-profit Plug’n Drive, many of whom are electric vehicle owners themselves. They can share resources about all the EVs available in Canada, driving range, the costs and savings, as well as charging and technology tips.
In fact, MEET Regina EV ambassador and Team Leader Jerilyn Nixon also helped organize test drives at the Saskatoon MEET earlier this spring when the Western Tour came through Saskatchewan on its way to Manitoba.
“We had a fantastic turnout at the Saskatoon MEET event, so I can’t wait to meet up with folks in Regina,” said Nixon, who is also on the leadership team of the Saskatchewan Electric Vehicle Association (SEVA). “How EVs deal with winter is a common question, so it’s helpful to have folks here who own EVs themselves, and can provide a local perspective on how different technologies and vehicles handle seriously cold winter conditions.”

As reported by SaskPower, Saskatchewan’s electricity grid continues to diversify its energy mix, with growing contributions from renewable sources. While fossil fuels still play a significant role in the province’s electricity generation, research shows that EVs produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline cars — even on grids with higher carbon intensity. As the grid continues to evolve, the climate benefits of EVs will continue to grow.
“EVs in Saskatchewan provide emissions and air quality benefits to the people of this province, as well as savings on maintenance costs, and a very quiet and zippy ride for drivers,” said Tracy Walden, Plug’n Drive’s Vice President of Engagement. “We’re truly appreciative for all our partners and the many ways they have contributed to bringing the MEET and our EV Roadshows across the Prairies.”
