PICKERING, ON –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– Members of OCEU/CUPE 1750 formed a picket line today in front of MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy’s office. The union representing workers at the WSIB have been on strike since Thursday after their employer failed to come to the table with a proposal that would address the core issues of workload and workplace culture.

“Our members are proud to serve injured workers in Ontario,” said Harry Goslin, President of OCEU. “That includes workers here in Durham. We need the Ford Government to put pressure on the WSIB management to get back to the table so we can get back to work.”

The local members of OCEU will be picketing in front the MPP’s office to raise awareness of the strike, and to demand the government step in to push the WSIB back to the table.  “We’re constituents, too,” said Alyx Cunningham, OCEU Picket Captain in Durham. “Mr. Bethlenfalvy is supposed to represent us, too.”

MPP Bethlenfalvy was unavailable to meet with the striking workers today. “There is always tomorrow,” said Cunningham.
