Location: Dundas, ON

DUNDAS, ON –(COMMUNITYWIRE)– Workers at Amica Dundas Retirement Home, community members and allies will rally outside Amica Dundas this Saturday to demand workers receive decent wages and respect.  Local 1404 unit 06 has been without a collective agreement since February 2022, but their employer, Amica Dundas, has refused to offer any sort of wage proposal – an unusual and disrespectful bargaining tactic.

The retirement home sector in Ontario is in a staffing crisis and workers at Amica Dundas say they deserve to be compensated fairly for the incredibly hard work they do, day in and day out.

Ninety members of CUPE Local 1404-06 signed a majority petition calling on the Employer to offer them good wages, decent benefits and respect.

CUPE Ontario Secretary Treasurer Yolanda McClean will speak at the rally alongside President of Local 1404 Karen Shimoda and President of Hamilton and District Labour Council Anthony Marco.  Amica Dundas workers are asking the Dundas community to attend the rally and show their support for workers at the home.

Yolanda McClean, CUPE Ontario Secretary Treasurer
Karen Shimoda President of CUPE Local 1404
Anthony Marco, President of Hamilton and District Labour Council

WHEN:
Saturday, April 20 2:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
