MILTON, ON, 15 September 2020 –/COMMUNITYWIRE/– Ontario front-line workers will hold political protests at MPP Parm Gill’s Constituency Office in protest of Bill 195 and to demand that their basic legal workplace rights be restored.

Close to half a million of Ontario’s workers are subject to Bill 195. More than 130,000 CUPE front-line workers are among them. These CUPE members work in health care, in social services, and in municipalities. They consist of hospital and long-term care workers; those in developmental services, child care, community agencies, and municipal social services; and those working in women’s shelters and shelters for those experiencing homelessness. For CUPE members, Bill 195 has meant hours of work, shifts, and work locations can be changed without consultation; all leaves can be cancelled; and contractors can be brought in to do work; and more.

WHO: Fred Hahn, President of CUPE Ontario; Michael Hurley, President of the OCHU/CUPE; local members of CUPE; and allies

WHAT: A rally calling on the Ford Conservatives to restore the rights of front-line workers

WHEN: September 17, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

WHERE: Parm Gill’s Constituency Office. 400 Main St East., Unit 206, Milton
