35. Ask Lisa: How moms can help daughters with low self-esteem

35. Ask Lisa: How moms can help daughters with low self-esteem

My daughter is constantly being criticized for being too nice. How can I encourage her to continue to be the wonderful person she is and not be tempted to change? Her self-esteem is low because of this reaction of her peers.

Being nice is admirable and certainly more desirable than your child being mean or apathetic about others needs. However, if her peers are giving her a hard time, it makes me wonder what else is going on.

36. Ask Lisa: How moms can build the self-esteem of their daughters

What are some easy ways to contribute to building the self-esteem of girls and women in my life?

This question provides me with a great opportunity to tell you about a fun and meaningful contest. It is a whole new kind of beauty contest!

The Dove Self-Esteem Fund is challenging Canadians to pay beauty forward and submit an idea on how they would use $500 to positively affect the lives of women and girls they care about. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and I are among the judging panel that will choose 100 winners to each receive $500 to carry out their plan.
