AWC Welcomes over 400 women in agriculture from across Canada at October conference

CALGARY, October 9, 2018 /COMMUNITYWIRE/ – Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference (AWC) will hold its 4th conference in Ontario this week hosting over 400 women from 9 provinces and 4 US states, all passionate about leadership in agriculture.

The AWC program features many inspiring speakers talking about career development, leadership skills, financial strategies, agricultural advocacy, communications and gender, mental health and life balance.

The majority of AWC speakers are women working in agriculture who will share their personal stories and answer questions from the delegates and include Debbie Zimmerman, CEO, Grape Growers of Ontario, Diane Bourassa Country Manager with Vetoquinol, N.A. Inc., and Kenda Allen, Vice President Commercial Banking TD Bank. Dr. Marla Shapiro and Dr. Brynn Winegard will share their expertise on mental health and maximizing your productivity through brain health respectively.

According to AWC founder and host Iris Meck, “The women attending this conference come from many different sectors within agriculture,” says Meck. “We welcome women from across Canada who are primary producers, entrepreneurs, industry association representatives, corporate agri-business employees, and students attending agriculture colleges and universities in Canada.”

Since 2014, Meck has hosted 8 conferences with more than 4,000 women in agriculture attending the events. To date, more than 400 women have registered for the Niagara Falls conference on October 15 & 16, 2018, and registrations are still available through the Advancing Women in Agriculture website and on site.
